Plate No. 06 What you are building
Play kitchen plans PDF to build a wooden kids play kitchen in the painted catalog style from two sheets of 3/4 in plywood and ordinary 1x4 and 1x6 boards. If you can put together flat-pack furniture, you can build this: numbered steps with one clear drawing each, a parts list with letters, a plywood cutting diagram, a cut list and a shopping list.
The build: a play kitchen 40 in wide, 13 in deep and 38 in tall for ages 3 and up, with the counter about 21 in high. A painted base (white or sage) holds an oven door with a window that is hinged at the bottom with a soft stop, a cupboard door under the sink, and a small drawer. A light wood counter has a sink cutout sized for a common stainless mixing bowl (the measuring method is included) and four painted burners. The upper backsplash has two shelves, a hook rail, a faux range hood and four knobs made from wooden drawer pulls. All corners are rounded and there are no small parts. Two sheets of 3/4 in plywood and a few 1x boards, all standard 8 ft sticks. About 13 hours of work over a weekend, plus a few days for the paint to cure.

How do you make a play kitchen?
Build a plywood cabinet about counter height for a young child, cut openings for an oven door and a sink bowl, add shelves and a backsplash, and finish with child-safe paint. These plans size the sink cutout to the bowl you buy and anchor the kitchen to the wall.
This is a digital download, no physical item ships. These plans are a guide only and are for an adult build: a child must not build, cut or paint. Anchor the upper section to the wall, because a play kitchen can tip over. Use child-safe paint and finish labeled safe for toys. Sand all edges and round all corners. The plans use no small parts: every knob and peg must be at least 1-1/4 in across. Adult supervision at all times, ages 3 and up. Check the hardware regularly. This is a homemade item, not a certified toy. Build at your own risk. The plywood, lumber, hardware and bowl are not included. Colors can look a little different on your screen and printer. For personal use only; please do not resell or share the files.
