What you are building

Adirondack chair plans for a classic low, reclined chair built from ordinary 2x4s and 2x6s: an arched five-slat back, wide rounded arms with corbels, and a seat on 2x6 stringers that slope down to the ground. Dimensioned drawings, the seat and back angles worked out, full-size templates, a cut list and a materials list.

Chair: about 31 in wide over the arms, 2 ft 9 in deep, 3 ft 2 in tall; seat 14-1/2 in high at the front sloping 15 degrees, back leaning 24 degrees (99 degrees between seat and back). 22 pieces from 2x4 and 2x6 lumber: two 2x6 stringers, five seat slats, five back slats cut on one smooth arch, two wide 2x6 arms with corbels, a front apron and rails hidden behind the back. Four full-size template pages (armrest front end, outer back slat top, inner back slat tops, stringer rear end with angle gauges), each with a 1 in test square.
